The developed model allows to effectively reduce the viscosity of bituminous oil, significantly simplifying and reducing production costs. The press service noted that the water-soluble catalyst, which can be pumped into the formation at a depth of 600-700 meters without the use of organic solvents, turned out to be more economical and environmentally friendly than other catalysts.

The kinetic model created to scale and optimize the process showed high accuracy with an error of less than 7%. This will enable more efficient conversion of heavy oil fractions into lighter ones and improvement of the overall aquathermolysis process. The new technology promises to be a significant advance in oil production and refining.
