The Glance app is packaged to come to the United States with a controversial proposal. The platform is able to embed content directly on the mobile phone’s lock screen – currently, the company is closing partnerships with US operators in the process of expansion.
For those who don’t know, Glance is particularly popular in India and already has a significant presence in Europe. The app promises to help its users interact with relevant content directly on their mobile’s lock screen, bringing notifications, news and even videos. The content displayed changes depending on how the user interacts with it.
Of course, this content is accompanied by advertisements, making it clear which part of it is no longer sponsored. This model has helped the company behind Glance grow a lot and now they want to reach the US where they believe users have more purchasing power to spend on the app.
In India, Glance partners directly with mobile phone manufacturers to install devices, but in the US this is negotiated with carriers. One way or another, it does not change the main strategy of the application: it is already installed on the smartphone.
The Glance is expected to make its official debut in Uncle Sam’s territory in the next two months. And as we know very well here, the arrival of a new product in the USA usually means that it has to appear in Brazil some time later.
