Elon Musk’s Neuralink has received approval from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to test its Blindsight technology on humans, the company announced on Twitter.

According to the entrepreneur, even people who have lost both eyes, their optic nerve or who have been blind since birth will be able to see thanks to the implant. The main condition is that the visual cortex of the brain is not damaged.
Elon Musk explained that vision will gradually recover and that in the future it will be possible to see in infrared, ultraviolet or even radar wavelengths.
Neuralink is now accepting applications for volunteers.
- In March 2024, Elon Musk announced the development of an implant to restore vision: Blindsight. The chips were successfully tested on blind monkeys; none of them “died or suffered serious injuries from the Neuralink device,” he stressed.
