He says France has also repeatedly rejected requests from the Russian side to provide materials on the case.

Meshkov believes that Paris sees Durov’s case as a relationship between the French state and its citizen, because he received French citizenship several years ago.

“Therefore, despite our repeated requests to provide the relevant material, we were refused and at the same time it was said that Durov showed no interest in contacting us,” Meshkov told the TV channel.

Durov was arrested at Paris’ Le Bourget airport on August 24. The story sparked widespread public criticism in many countries. The billionaire is suspected of ten minor and serious crimes and could face up to 10 years in prison, but has so far been released. He is under judicial supervision and must report to the police station twice a week.
