The Bluesky social network enjoys its fame among the Brazilian public, but this also means greater responsibility. Last Wednesday (18), the platform shared the new initiatives recently adopted to protect users and ensure a healthy environment.
One of the new measures to combat extreme bots and fraud making it harder for the same user to create multiple profiles. Additionally, a project still in the experimental phase will detect when an account is “used.” Publishing clearly false, fraudulent or spam content” and may even result in expulsion.
Additionally, an automated system promises to detect toxic or aggressive content in replies and “reduce their visibility in the app” when this happens. Moderation communication with users accused of inappropriate behavior will improve and will now occur in the app rather than via email.
This is the second time in about a month that the platform has reported back to the community to talk about combating toxic behavior on the service.
More changes to Bluesky
Bluesky also confirmed the launch of regional classification labels or seals, which will even be used as a method of local suspension if a particular account contains illegal content or is unregulated in a particular country.
This could be a way to address cases involving court orders restricting access to posts by certain users, such as in Brazil. In the X case, formerly Twitter, the decision was to not comply with legal demands, and one of the consequences was that the social network was blocked there.
Another problem solved is “Starter Packs” are profiles that have been selected for other people to follow. In some cases, malicious lists have been created or people have been accidentally added to malicious user selections.
This problem can now be solved if you block the list creator — unless the list is for content moderation.
Regarding the platform’s latest innovation, the ability to publish short videos, the service says: aims to improve securityMechanisms such as turning off autoplay and allowing reports are already live, but other functionality may be added over time and based on suggestions from the community.
