The day before, Bakalchuk’s lawyer Ruslan Cheryapin told RB.RU that the businessman was in talks with law enforcement and gave explanations about what had happened to him. Later, an explanation appeared on the businessman’s Telegram channel “on behalf of a group of lawyers” that the Wildberries co-founder was not detained or arrested.

Earlier, on September 18, a shooting took place near the office of the market in Moscow. Wildberries RB.RU reported that Bakalchuk made “an attempt to illegally enter with armed guards.” The businessman himself said that he came to the building to negotiate the cessation of warehouse construction, but his wife and co-founder of the online platform Tatyana Bakalchuk denies this information.

Following the shooting, the Investigative Commission opened a criminal case, which includes the crimes of murder, attempted murder of two or more persons and illegal possession of weapons. According to investigators, as a result of the incident, two people died and seven were injured.

Tatyana Bakalchuk posted a video on her Telegram channel in which she says: “Armed people broke into our office, started a shootout, a pogrom, young people were killed. Vladislav, what are you doing? How will you look your parents and our children in the eye? How could you bring the situation to such absurdity?”

There has not yet been any information from security forces as to which side opened fire first.
