Getting enough sleep on weekends could reduce your chances of developing heart disease by 20%, according to findings from a study presented at the 2024 European Society of Cardiology Congress. During the study, experts analysed data from 90,000 people from the UK Biobank.

It can increase the risk of hypertension, obesity, arrhythmia, and coronary heart disease, said Jim Liu, MD, a cardiologist at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
