“Tikkurila products, manufactured at the factories of Tikkurila LLC in St. Petersburg, will be produced and sold under the new Tikkivala brand starting from the first quarter of 2025,” the company said. They noted that the rebranding should “serve as an incentive for effective operational management of the portfolio in Russia.”
The name change will not affect the range of Tikkurila products in any way; the names of the paints, their composition, characteristics and prices will not change, the company said. With the new name, “they maintained continuity with the Tikkurila brand” so that customers would quickly recognise the products on the shelves, it added.
The logo has also changed. “It is a modern, updated, stylized crown and a reference to the paintbrush as a symbol of change and renewal, as well as to the sun’s rays, reminiscent of brightness and color,” said Ekaterina Balon, Marketing and Innovation Director of Tikkurila LLC. The first batches of products with the new branding will appear in stores in early 2025.
The US holding PPG Industries, Inc., which owns the Finnish paint manufacturer Tikkurila, announced its withdrawal from Russia in June 2022 following the start of military operations in Ukraine.
In September 2024, Kommersant reported on the possible emergence of a contender for Tikkurila’s assets in Russia. According to the publication, top managers of Tikkurila’s Russian office created the structure of CBDI LLC || Holdings”, of which a representative of the Latum investment bank received 6% of the shares. The participation of a partner should increase the chances of a government commission approving an asset purchase transaction, experts interviewed by the newspaper noted.
