iFixit specialists published video analyzes of the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max and showed what has changed inside the smartphones.
The iPhone 16 Pro doesn’t have the same simplified battery removal process as the iPhone 16. Instead, Apple uses regular adhesive. However, it’s still easier to get inside because you can do it through the back of the iPhone rather than through the display, which can be easily damaged.
Apple wrapped the iPhone 16 Pro’s battery with metal, just like the iPhone 16, but the iPhone 16 Pro Max doesn’t have a metal casing around the battery. iFixit made these decisions.

The LiDAR scanner can now be removed and is not included in the shared camera unit. It is unlikely that it will be possible to interchange camera modules between the 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max due to the different cable lengths and rifle sizes.
Apple included a mmWave antenna in the US version to make room for the switch control buttons. In the iPhone 16 Pro, it is located in a special place at the top of the device. iFixit says that the mmWave signal may still be affected due to the titanium frame of the firmware.
The motherboard can be easily removed, which is a significant design improvement. USB-C ports are also easy to replace, but Apple doesn’t sell them separately. At least for now.
The teardown revealed that the iPhone 16 Pro uses a Qualcomm SDX71M modem, which is a custom variant of the SDX70M modem used in the iPhone 15 Pro.
As a result, iFixit experts rated the repairability of the iPhone 16 Pro/Pro Max at 7 points out of 10. This is a very high figure.
