Sales of sneakers in Russia in the first seven months of 2024 amounted to 44.8 billion rubles, Vedomosti reports citing a report from the Center for the Development of Advanced Technologies (CRPT).

This is the highest figure in at least the last three years. In 2023, during the same period, sneakers worth 32 billion rubles were sold, in 2022 and 2021 – 18.4 billion and 17 billion rubles, respectively.

The average cost of a pair in the first half of this year was 3.6 thousand rubles, in 2023 – 3.1 thousand rubles, in 2022 and 2021 the average price was 3.8 thousand and 4 thousand rubles.

Market representatives confirm an increase in demand for sneakers this year. For example, sales of wild berries from January to July increased by 85% in quantity and 80% in monetary terms compared to the same period in 2023. The largest increase was shown by Adidas brand sneakers – an increase of 252%.

On Yandex Market, sneakers and sneakers remain the most popular request in the footwear category. During the eight months of 2024, the number of orders has tripled. Experts believe that the growth in sales is also associated with the entry of new sellers into the markets and the increase in offers of national and Asian brands at affordable prices.

Production of sneakers in Russia in January-July amounted to 6.4 million pairs and imports increased by 43%, reaching 15 million pairs.

Infoline Analytics CEO Mikhail Burmistrov notes that thanks to markets, sports clothing and footwear have become more accessible to residents of remote cities and towns, where sports stores are extremely rare. At the same time, products on online platforms are usually cheaper than in regular stores, which also stimulates demand, notes the expert.

In addition, more and more Russians are starting to monitor their health and play sports, adds Burmistrov. In his opinion, this trend towards a healthy lifestyle has a positive effect on the growth of sneaker sales.
