Car service centers complained about difficulties in repairing cars from China

The main difficulties for car services are related to the lack of catalogs, digital services and technical information about Chinese cars in Russian. The high cost of spare parts also plays a role. The problem is complemented by the shortage of specialists with experience working with Chinese brands, Basis Motors said.

The presence of the problem was confirmed by the technical director of the Fit Service car service network, Nikita Rodionov. According to him, independent car services find it difficult to obtain up-to-date information on the repair of Chinese cars due to the lack of manuals and spare parts catalogues. “Of course, we found ways to solve the problem. We accumulate our own knowledge and technology base, translate technical documentation with the participation of professional experts. But this approach is only possible in larger networks, where there are resources for it,” Rodionov noted.

According to market participants, it will take between a year and a year and a half to improve the situation in the repair of Chinese cars. The number of Chinese cars in Russia is growing, the demand for services is increasing, so services will soon adapt and will be able to offer a full range of services, Basis Motors assured.

Ford Motor CEO Jim Farley noted in September that Chinese automakers “are moving at the speed of light,” creating serious competition in the auto market. In his opinion, Chinese companies represent an “existential threat” to Western manufacturers.
