Analysts from the DamProdam equipment exchange service studied owners of old iPhones and collected statistics on upgrading to new iPhone 16 a week after the sale.

Experts note that Russians do not tend to overpay for new products on the “gray” market. The main proof is that official Apple resellers such as MTS are restoring: and Eldorado-M.Video, quickly introducing new models of iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max in Russia.

Since 2008, retailers have had the practice of importing iPhones from abroad. For example, the iPhone 3G cost $199 in the USA, while in Russia its price reached $800-1200. The trend continues, and in the first days of iPhone 16 sales, the price exceeded 400 thousand rubles, but demand remained stable. Russians prefer to overpay.

Most often, the following models are replaced on the iPhone 16:

1. iPhone 13
2. iPhone 15
3. iPhone 14

iPhone 13 owners take the top spot as the average update time for smartphones is 2-3 years and thus the devices require an update. iPhone 15 owners are loyal fans of the brand who are updated every year. In Russia, the iPhone remains the most modern smartphone on the secondary market.

In third place of exchange is the iPhone 14, since the batteries of such smartphones have already lost their charge, and the delivery of two generations in functionality becomes better.

Traditionally, the number of trade-in transactions in Russia increases from October to December. Currently, prices for new iPhones are stabilizing, retailers are offering installment plans, and the New Year holidays provide an increase in demand for iPhones, as well as for the desired gift.
