As RBC reports, citing data from the border service of the Federal Security Service (FSB), in the first half of 2024, the number of trips by Russians to China increased by 184.5% year-on-year, up to 793.5 thousand.

Türkiye remains the most popular destination: 2.5 million people traveled there in six months. Second place on the list is occupied by Abkhazia, where Russians made almost 2.2 million trips.

According to this indicator, Abkhazia is far ahead of Kazakhstan, where Russian citizens traveled 1.2 million times, 9% less than in 2023. In addition, among the top five countries is the United Arab Emirates (986.3 thousand).

Among the top 10 countries, apart from China, the number of trips to Georgia (+31.5%, up to 522 thousand) and Thailand (+30.1%, to 717.2 thousand) increased the most.

In early September, the director of the Moscow office of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Kanchany Sing-Uda, stated that until the end of 2024 the country plans to receive a record number of 1.9 million Russian tourists.

Most often, according to the FSB, citizens of Uzbekistan (1.8 million), Kazakhstan (1.5 million), Tajikistan (978 thousand), China (700 thousand) and Kyrgyzstan (550 thousand) entered Russia in the first half of 2024. .) .

China also shows the greatest dynamism in this indicator: the number of trips by Chinese residents to Russia increased by 166% during the year.

Last week the first direct flight from Shanghai arrived in Kazan. At the opening ceremony of direct flights they said that a Chinese visa center will open in the capital of Tatarstan in early 2025.
