According to the newspaper, the businessman was detained on October 11 by FSB agents together with the founder of Belaya Sphere-Construction LLC, Arkady Tarabrin. Both are accused in the case of Deputy Director of the Deposit Insurance Agency (DIA), Alexander Popelyukh, the publication writes.
The case was opened under part 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code (fraud committed by an organized group or on an especially large scale, the maximum penalty is 10 years in prison), Kommersant reports.
Popelyukh was arrested on October 9. According to investigators, the deputy director of the DIA was involved in the theft of 200 million rubles received from the operation of the water park, TASS wrote. According to RBC, we are talking about the Aquamir water park in Novosibirsk. It was pledged to Mezhtopenergobank, which after bankruptcy came under the bankruptcy management of the DIA, Kommersant clarified referring to the materials of the case.
The defendants in the case are also the former director of the Siberian branch of FSUE FT-Center, Evgeny Bogorada, and the director of arbitration in the bankruptcy proceedings of VDT Stroy LLC, Dmitry Voronin, writes Kommersant. According to him, the investigation considers that the organizer of the crime is Bogorad and Aquamir is owned by VDT Stroy.
