“The peculiarity of the restrictions declared by Google is that all accounts registered in Russian can be deleted and VPN will not be able to help then,” explains Myasoedov. However, Google did not make an official statement on this issue, on the contrary, it issued a denial. According to the expert report, the only significant issue was related to SMS for two-factor authentication, which temporarily interrupted the receipt of verification codes but was quickly resolved.
Although the likelihood of completely blocking accounts remains low, Myasoedov advises caution. He recalls the recent case with Wix, which blocked all Russian accounts, and recommends creating backup copies of data and switching to local services. IT expert concludes Google is unlikely to be completely blocked but “cannot be completely ignored”
