With an update to its online tool that will be rolled out gradually over the coming weeks, Google will finally make searching easier air tickets cheaper for your trip, although you may sacrifice some comfort if you choose one of these.

“For example, there may be a third-party booking site that offers a lower price than the airline itself,” Google explained in a blog post announcing the update. “Or you can save money by flying back to another airport in the same city you left, such as flying out of New York’s LaGuardia Airport and returning to JFK.”
The update adds a new “Cheapest” tab to the Google Flights search page, and the most convenient options (at least according to Google Flights) will appear next to it in the “Best” tab.
Of course, you may find some options under the Cheaper tab that feature longer layovers, self-transfers, or the need to purchase different legs of your trip through multiple airlines or booking sites. But as Google notes in its post, “When cost is more important than convenience, the new tab gives you an easy way to see the lowest prices available,” allowing you to decide which option is best for you.
Google has been gradually improving its Flights tool since its launch in 2011. In a recent update, the tech giant added a feature that suggests the best time to book a cheap flight. Google Flights also offers price tracking that, once set up, automatically alerts you if fares on your route drop noticeably.
