The US Department of Commerce suspected TSMC, which produces processors for Apple, of supplying 5G and II chips to Huawei. The US authorities mortgaged the company several years ago.
The department is currently investigating TSMC. It is suspected that Huawei’s HiSilicon processors may also have been manufactured by TSMC rather than the average company SMIC.
TSMC officials said they comply with all laws and are willing to cooperate with authorities.
If the agency proves TSMC guilty, the company will be subject to large fines or more severe sanctions, which could negatively affect the production of processors for Apple. [9to5]
