Alfa-Bank presented a terminal for payments using biometrics. The technology is operating in pilot mode and its expansion is planned for early 2025, the credit institution reported in a statement.

The terminal was shown at the Finopolis innovative financial technologies forum. During the two days of the demonstration, more than 300 payments were successfully made using the buyer’s biometric data, said Denis Osin, director of small and micro businesses at Alfa-Bank.
The device allows you to pay for your purchase using a plastic card, Quick Payment System, rings, stickers, bracelets, watches, QR codes. Payment is made by pressing the “Pay at a glance” button on the terminal; You just need to look at the camera.
Alfa-Bank emphasized that they plan to integrate the digital ruble into payment options.
Interfax, citing Alexey Kirichek, head of the procurement and payment services development department, reported that the bank plans to replace the entire network within one to two years.
Alfa-Bank is one of the largest private banks in Russia, its client base is more than 1.8 million corporate clients and 33.8 million individuals (as of July 2024).
