Since the beginning of 2024, 286 million phone numbers and 96 million email addresses have appeared on the Internet. This figure is double that of the same period last year. This was reported to Izvestia by the DLBI darknet monitoring and data leak intelligence service.

According to DLBI, the largest number of breaches occurred in the e-commerce sector (39%), followed by pharmacies and medical services (10%) and financial services in third place (9%).
Despite the increase in the number of leaked data, Roskomnadzor recorded a decrease in the number of incidents: from 145 cases in January-September 2023 to 110 in the same period in 2024.
To minimize the consequences of possible breaches, it is necessary to provide operators with clear instructions on how to comply with the principles of data processing, Roskomnadzor said. One of the fundamental principles is that companies do not collect unnecessary data.
