“Roskomnadzor does not restrict access to the Twitch streaming service. At the moment there are no plans to block the service,” RKN said.
Last week, Russian users reported problems accessing Twitch. On October 15 and 18, on the Sboy.rf portal, the number of complaints about the service approached 300.
Russian courts regularly fine Twitch for failing to remove information banned in the country. The service received its last fine of 5 million rubles on August 5 under article 19.7.10-4 of the Administrative Code (non-compliance with the order of RKN).
Fines are also imposed on other foreign services for failing to remove banned content. These include TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest and Telegram. According to TASS, in the first half of 2024 they were fined a total of 7.7 million rubles.
On October 8, Roskomnadzor blocked the Discord messenger for violating legal requirements. Prior to this, the regulator required the platform’s administration to remove 947 materials, which, according to RKN, contained, among other things, calls for extremism and suicide.
