The new variant of the virus is much more contagious than the previous ones. As stated in the institution’s press release, the virus was imported, not from Germany, and the patient became ill.
A new variant of monkeypox has previously been recorded in Sweden, Thailand and Pakistan.
“The Institute is monitoring the situation closely and will make recommendations if necessary,” the Koch Institute said in a statement.
