The attackers report “fraudulent activities” with the “account” and request to follow a link to the “system center.” The email instructs users to verify their account: “Please log in to our system center immediately to verify your account, otherwise we will block your account.”

Kaspersky Lab told the publication that phishing can be traced in such messages. Among the signs of phishing, experts point out that the account does not resemble the Telegram notification service and can be blocked like any other user. The company does not recommend following links from dubious messages or entering your data on unverified resources.

Positive Technologies told the publication that such schemes can lead not only to the “hijacking” of an account, but also to the theft of money and confidential information.

In mid-October, reports emerged that scammers began hacking inactive WhatsApp profiles of Russians. After that, they call other Messenger users and pose as bank or mobile operator employees.
