About 90% of its income comes from Microsoft shares. According to Bloomberg, the current compensation is the highest in the last ten years. Thus, in 2014, Nadella received 84 million dollars, that year he became the third CEO of Microsoft.

The agency notes that Nadella’s salary could have been about $5 million higher had he not asked for a reduction to “reflect his personal responsibility” for changes the company is making to address cybersecurity risks.

In recent years, the company has faced increasing scrutiny from the US Cybersecurity Review Board for a series of attacks on its software, according to Bloomberg. At the same time, Microsoft notes that “Nadella has demonstrated exceptional leadership and played a critical role in achieving the company’s extraordinary performance, and was personally responsible for reorienting its investments and priorities.”

The company’s CFO, Amy Hood, received 30% more: her income amounted to $25.8 million, Microsoft President Brad Smith received $23.4 million (an increase of 29%).

Microsoft shareholders at the general meeting on December 10 will consider a proposal to invest in Bitcoin, according to documents filed by the company with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The company’s board of directors recommended voting against the initiative.
