MTS protected its subscribers in the Moscow region from 358 million fraudulent and spam calls over the nine months of 2024. This is 1.6 times more than in 2023.
This volume of blocked voice calls is equivalent to approximately 1 million hours, or an entire century, the company noted.
As a result, blocking of unwanted calls became available to subscribers of other telecom operators in the Defender mobile application. The AI in the “Safe Call” service began to warn MTS voice subscribers about possible fraud directly during a conversation, as we reported earlier.
The share of blocked spam calls in Moscow and the region is about 16% of the total volume of blocks in the MTS network throughout the country. The rate of their growth in the capital regions practically coincides with the dynamics of blocked calls on a federal scale.
In total, in January-September 2024, thanks to Defender, 2.3 billion calls containing spam and fraud did not reach MTS subscribers in Russia, which is one and a half times more than in the same period last year. Thus, MTS protected its subscribers for about six million hours or 700 years of not the most pleasant and sometimes dangerous communication.
