The Russian Ministry of Health, in order to early identify the symptoms of “certain diseases”, wants to force doctors to inform the medical commission – with the delivery of the relevant medical documents – about patients who have officially registered more than four days of illness in six months.

The department has already prepared proposals for changes to the procedure for issuing certificates of incapacity for work, TASS reported with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Health.
The innovations, according to the ministry, will help return working-age staff to work through prevention. The press service clarifies that the document does not refer to the official record of temporary disability.
That is, the measure will not apply to sick leave related to caring for a sick family member, medical rehabilitation, pregnancy and childbirth, adoption of children, “socially significant illnesses” and illnesses requiring medical attention through renal replacement therapy. Therefore, it is not clear what diseases the department is talking about.
Previously, the Ministry of Health also revised the principles of individual calculation of the amount of sick leave benefits, depending on the length of service and income of the employee. It is also expected that in 2025 the maximum amount of sickness benefit will increase to 5.7 thousand rubles per day, and in 2026 to 6.8 thousand rubles.
