The German automaker hopes to attract “more tech-savvy” Chinese customers who “expect advanced connectivity as well as automated driving,” Audi CEO Gernot Dellner said.

Based on the AUDI E concept, the company will launch three new models: mid-size and large-size cars, which will be launched in the second half of 2025.

Previously, Audi partnered with Chinese state-owned company SAIC Motors and appointed its former electric car director, Fermín Soneira, as head of the new team. As part of the partnership, the Advanced Digitalized Platform with an 800-volt architecture was developed, which is the basis of the AUDI E concept, writes The Verge.

Reuters reported in August that Audi was planning to rebrand in China, citing informed sources. A change in positioning is necessary to improve performance: in the first six months of 2024, the automaker sold only 10,000 electric vehicles in the country, while China’s Nio and Zeekr sold eight times as many each, the agency noted.
