The Unicode Consortium has published new emoji that it recommends be added to future operating systems, including iOS.

8 new emoji characters were proposed including Bigfoot, Stretched Face, Battle Cloud, Apple Core, Orca, Trombone, Landslide and Treasure Chest. There are also new skin tone variations for a range of real-life emojis, like ballerinas, people with bunny ears and people who do wrestling.

It’s worth noting that the Unicode Consortium only draws basic emoji layouts. Apple can modify them for iOS on its own.

New emoji appear in Unicode 17 and will be released in the fall. Therefore, we are waiting for them in iOS 19.
