“We have already received all the support from Rosobrnadzor. The academy, the university and the institute should be symbols of quality education, and not just words,” Lantratova said at a meeting of the interdepartmental working group on legislation in the field of information and the blogosphere (cited by TASS).

The bill, which will particularly affect owners of online schools and training courses, involves amendments to the Education Law. Current legislation prohibits including in trade names only the names of foreign states, authorities and public associations, as well as designations that contradict the principles of humanity and morality and public interests.

However, the proposed legislative changes, if adopted, will affect only the registration of new trademarks, but will not affect existing companies, lawyer Fyodor Kravchenko told Vedomosti.

According to a February study by the Smart Ranking agency, the Russian educational technology market grew by 32% in 2023. The revenue of companies in this sector in the fourth quarter of last year increased by 25% and amounted to 34.9 million of rubles. The agency predicts a decline in market growth rates in 2024 to 17-22%.
