In Moscow, from March 15, 2025, they will begin selling tickets to theaters and concerts with a passport. The new rules will apply to places under the jurisdiction of the capital’s Department of Culture, according to a message on the Moscow mayor’s website.

“At the time of purchasing a ticket, the data from the document that identifies the buyer will be added to the buyer’s information usually requested. And by attending the event, the viewer will be able to confirm their identity with any of the documents on the approved list,” the message states.
In addition to the passport, when purchasing tickets you can use your driving license, Moscow social card, student card, pension card and other documents. 63 theaters and 36 concert, cultural and leisure entities have already joined the pilot project, including:
- Sovremennik Theater;
- theater “PN Workshop “Fomenko”;
- “Stanislavsky Electronic Theater”;
- theater Etcetera;
- Moscow Theater by Oleg Tabakov;
- Moscow International House of Music;
- ZIL cultural center;
- Zaryadye Concert Hall.
The mayor’s office explained that the new rules aim to “improve control over ticket sales and increase the safety of visitors to cultural events”; they will avoid a situation where ticket buyers transfer money to another person; The pilot project will last until the end of 2025.
