Apple operates on a smarter layer of Siri, which the company calls LLM Siri internally.
Cupertino is adding large language models to the assistant so that it can compete with large chatbots like ChatGPT. Siri will conduct a dialogue with users as if they were a living person.
In addition, using LLM allows Siri to perform more complex tasks that only ChatGPT can currently handle in iOS 18.2. While Apple is testing Siri in a separate application for iPhone, Mac and iPad, then all developments are introduced into the regular version of the assistant.
