“It was not the government that stopped them,” he says of the money transfers (TASS quote from an interview with Exclusive TV), “these companies fell under international sanctions, including those of the United States. <…> The government, on the contrary, is looking for opportunities for our citizens who are in Russia to send money to Moldova. And vice versa: those living in Moldova could transfer money to Russia.”

Previously, transfers between countries were available through payment systems (Contact, Unistream, Zolotaya Korona). Starting in 2023, all these channels gradually stopped working, when Chisinau joined the anti-Russian sanctions due to the risk of isolating the banking system.
