The recall affects a number of models, including some Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6, and luxury EVs such as the 2022-2025 Genesis GV70 and Genesis G80. Hyundai dealers will inspect affected vehicles, replace faulty components and update software free of charge.

Kia, a sub-brand of Hyundai, is recalling another 62,000 electric vehicles, mostly Kia EV6 models, from 2022 to 2024, citing the same problem with the charging control unit. Kia will also offer free inspection and repair services.
