The Kontinuum investment company has invested 25 million rubles in the Russian service Ex-bags, which sells, buys and exchanges branded bags of the luxury segment. This was reported to RB.RU by a startup representative.

Startup Ex-bags for the resale of luxury bags attracted 25 million rubles of investment

This is the first round of investment for the project: it will be used to increase working capital, update the website and open the first premium resale boutique in Russia.

Ex-bags allows users to sell or buy an authentic branded bag. Ex-bags now offers users bags from brands like Hermes, Dior, Chanel, Balenciaga, Prada, Gucci, YSL, Celine, Bottega Veneta, Louis Vuitton.

“The demand for used luxury bags has been growing for a long time: it is associated with the trend of conscious consumption, but the main role, of course, is played by the opportunity to buy a cult item at a more affordable price. Especially the popularity of the resale format has grown a lot now, with the departure of Russia's largest luxury brands,” said Arina Ivanets, founder of the project.

Ivanets began working in the used luxury handbag market in 2017 when she was a student at Le Cordon Bleu University in Paris. Later, the businesswoman continued her business in Russia by opening a company.

Ex-bags started working in 2021 for both the domestic and foreign markets. In March 2022, the export revenue share of the project decreased and is now only 25%, but sales in the Russian market have increased.
