The project could also be a response to possible mobile devices from Microsoft, which is developing its own prototypes.
The new console will be a development of the ideas of PlayStation Portal, which will be released in 2023. Portal lets you play PS5 games via internet streaming, but Sony initially envisioned it as a standalone device similar to Valve’s Steam Deck.
The new project is expected to go even further and enable PS5 games to be run directly on the portable platform, reaching a wider audience.
