The greatest attention to environmental friendliness of consumed products is paid in Astrakhan (83%), Tomsk (80%) and Izhevsk (79%). Residents of Vladivostok (only 15% care about the environmental friendliness of brands) and Penza (16%) are not ready to give up non-ecological products.

Over the past year, the number of respondents who positively value manufacturers that contribute to the preservation of the environment increased by 5%. In the 18-30 age group, this figure is higher and reaches 71%. Krasnoyarsk (94%) and Orenburg (92%) are leaders in their willingness to support environmental initiatives.

Russians believe that, in most cases, a company’s environmental friendliness is determined by the use of recycled materials (52.2% of respondents) and reducing the consumption of paper and plastic (25.8 %). A slightly less positive impact is exerted by special environmental campaigns (14.6% of respondents) and the introduction of separate waste collection (11.2%).

The survey also showed how the respondents themselves contribute to preserving respect for the environment. Most Russian residents use public transport instead of a personal car (78%) and often use reusable containers to reduce plastic waste (42.9%). Less than 10% of Russians sort waste; 14.8% and 14% of respondents, respectively, pay attention to saving electricity and water.

Russians are attentive to the impact of large companies on the environment, says SberStrakhovanie general director Mikhail Volkov. “Research data has shown that this term [забота об экологии] Today people understand much more than ESG principles: only 8% of respondents have any idea about them,” the senior manager emphasized.

The survey was conducted among residents of 37 Russian cities with a population of more than 500 thousand people.
