Huang is now focused on convincing governments to embrace this vision. While in Thailand, where he met with Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra to discuss building AI infrastructure, Huang said Nvidia chips are needed for the government to build AI systems. Thailand is among at least 10 countries, including Denmark, Japan and India, that are pursuing similar projects with Nvidia’s support.
The move reflects growing interest in “national systems” of artificial intelligence and the “fragmentation” of the Internet. This divide is also evident in the tensions between the United States and China as they compete for supremacy in the field of artificial intelligence.
