Developers are exploring ways to optimize the engine to eliminate the infamous frame lag that is especially noticeable in open-world games.
During a presentation at Unreal Fest Prague, CDPR representative Jaroslav Rudzki talked about frame time degradation issues due to the large number of objects and actors in the game environment.
To combat this, the studio is exploring new approaches to process data streams and optimize the engine.
Although the improvements developed for The Witcher 4 can significantly increase the fluidity of the game, not all games powered by Unreal Engine 5 will benefit from these changes immediately.
Many improvements may be project-specific or take time to integrate into the engine.
