The authors gracefully balance the spirit of Star Wars adventure with a simple, gripping coming-of-age tale.

The series is not overloaded with references to the main canon, making it accessible to viewers who have never watched Star Wars. At the same time, fans are collecting a lot of nice details that expand the world of a distant galaxy.

The main difference is emphasis on personal history. If the classic trilogy was a large-scale space saga about the fate of the galaxy, then “The Backbone” looks at the universe through the eyes of children. Every hyperjump or meeting with space pirates here turns into a real adventure. We’ve all seen this somewhere, but it’s cool

Many have noted that the series is inspired by films that have become icons of its time, such as The Goonies, E.T. and The Navigator. The Backbone has that same adventurous vibe, with the main family on screen. You can talk more about how the series successfully combines nostalgia and freshness.

The series follows a familiar formula: a group of teenagers, mysteries, unexpected twists and incredible discoveries. Jude Law’s portrayal of the enigmatic Captain Jod Naud becomes a major turning point in the narrative. His character includes drama and dynamics: he seems like an ally, then a credible threat. Lowe masterfully fits into the children’s story, adding mystery to it.

He not only helps the children on their journey, but also makes them question: can they trust him?

More than just a new show in the Star Wars universe, Star Wars: Backbone is a heartfelt and exciting adventure that brings back the spirit of naivety and exploration.

While the series isn’t loaded with references, it still has elements that make it part of the larger Star Wars world:

Thanks to this decision, the series is completely independent and at the same time part of the universe.
