We continue the theme of replacing everything original with “Chinese”. A month ago, I listened to a Baseus USB-C braided cable to charge an iPhone. I already use the team, I’m satisfied. Decided to move on.

How about replacing your MacBook charging cable? Yes, the same “white” USB-C to USB-C that comes with almost every single Apple laptop.

A week ago, it came in a parcel just like that. Baseus, 100 watts (according to the passport), braided, with USB-C at the ends. Length 2 meters. It costs 350 rubles. The original, let me remind you, is not available in Russia for less than 2 thousand.

really real replacement?

Pros of USB-C cable from Baseus for MacBook

Wicker. Theoretically, it should last longer. Reality depends on effects. I can say for sure that this one does not turn yellow next to the connector, as happens with Apple’s energy intensity after one and a half to two years of operation. It bends without much difficulty, but does not allow itself to be broken.

Doesn’t tangle. This is a plus. And there is no feeling that the lace is a little sticky, like the original one. It also ignites over time, after two years, as the braid begins to slowly disintegrate. Ecology!

100 watts out. Tested on a 16″ MacBook Pro with an M1 Pro processor. This laptop boots not only from the “newfangled” MagSafe, but also via USB-C. In the latter case, it will take as much as possible just 97 watts. More only through the “magnetic” lace.

We connected this branded Baseus charger (120 watts) to the macbook. Charging started. Checked the power status via About This Mac -> System Report. It shows 97 watts, as it should be. Exactly the same amount will give the original cable.

It turns out that this cable is suitable for charging absolutely any existing MacBook with a USB-C port at the highest possible “speed”.

It costs 340 rubles. This is the 2 meter pro version. There is a shorter one, but literally 20 rubles, so I don’t see much point in taking one.

Can be ordered with delivery from Russia. Then the cost of the cable should be multiplied by more than one and a half times – 650 rubles. But it will arrive in just 5 days.

Cons of USB-C cable from Baseus for MacBook

100 watts out. Yes, this is raising different questions. Well, for example, are you ready to find a Chinese charging cable that allows such current, in your MacBook for 150+ thousand rubles.

I see the point of using this Baseus at work when the laptop is charging in the field of your perspective. If so, react quickly. There were no complaints about overheating or fire in the reviews. But this is not an indicator. Maybe someone after the fire no longer has anything to write this complaint on.

That’s exactly what I did. The cable will work. They are used when everyone else is busy. This option is “in reserve” and for emergencies.

Conclusion: you can take, but be careful

I know that as a result there are diametrically opposed opinions. One with someone that I “wasn’t throwing a barrel at the Chinese in vain”, that “these cables come from the same factory with Apple” and that “I have been using Chinese cables for 80 years and have not burned down yet.” Others are with someone who oddly saves on a charging cable by buying an expensive laptop.

And I will say that I will not do anything for you. The cable came for 350 rubles, gives 100 watts. There are questions, but everything is OK. Release article, then yourself.

By the way, everyone knows the weeks.
