MTUSI has developed a methodology to visualize the Bitcoin network blockchain aimed at finding evidence of cryptocurrency-related crimes. Scientists have proposed new approaches to analyzing transactions that make it possible to identify connections between network participants and analyze the flow of funds. This research focuses on creating graphs that visually show how assets are transferred between addresses.

As noted by Andrey Osin, one of the authors of the technique, directed acyclic graph (DAG) helps improve the quality and interpretability of visualizations, which is especially important for research.

The methods and algorithms used were tested on real data from Bitcoin and Ethereum blockchains. Charts were created using transaction information from a variety of sources, including contract and call data. The result of the work was an algorithm that can be adapted to various purposes of analyzing blockchain data and can be used to develop tools to combat criminal activities in the cryptocurrency sector.
