While the iPhone 16 Pro Max and Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra have titanium frames, their back panels are made of glass. Both devices have IP68 protection, but the iPhone has better water resistance: it can withstand submersion of up to 6m for 30 minutes, while the Samsung is resistant to 1.5m.

iPhone 16 PM has a 6.9 inch screen. Its glass became more resistant to damage and its frames became thinner. Galaxy S24 Ultra comes with a 6.8-inch screen. Samsung provides better image quality, but the difference is barely noticeable to the naked eye. In addition, the Samsung screen is more matte and shines less in the sun, and the cross-section of the selfie camera is smaller than that of the iPhone.

Unlocking on the iPhone 16 Pro Max is done by face (Face ID). You can also use face unlock on the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, but the fingerprint scanner on this smartphone will be more secure.

Both smartphones feature loud stereo speakers.

iPhone 16 Pro Max is equipped with the A18 Pro chip and 8 GB RAM. Galaxy S24 Ultra has Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 with 12GB of RAM. In general, both smartphones cope with any tasks and games without any problems. Below are the results of their tests.

As for the battery, the iPhone 16 Pro Max has a 4685 mA batteryh on Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra – at 5000 mAh. At the same time, oddly enough, the iPhone works a little longer, but charges much slower (in almost 2 hours versus 1 hour 5 minutes for Samsung). Galaxy S24 Ultra also has reverse charging support, which the iPhone does not have.

In terms of camera, the iPhone 16 Pro Max has a 48 MP main lens, a 12 MP telephoto with 5x zoom, a 48 MP ultra-wide lens and a LiDAR scanner on the back panel. The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra also offers a 200 MP main camera, two telephoto lenses (10 MP with 3x zoom and 50 MP with 5x zoom) and a 12 MP ultra-wide lens. In terms of camera versatility, Samsung wins overall. You can see photo examples below.

Both smartphones tested have a durable body with titanium frames, a bright display with LTPO, excellent speakers, a powerful processor, plenty of photo and video features, AI-based features and long-term update support.

The advantages of the iPhone 16 Pro Max include longer operating time, Face ID unlocking, better water protection, the presence of a key to control the camera and Action Button, 4K 60 fps Dolby Vision, ProRes Log.

With the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, you get pen support, faster charging, fingerprint scanner, higher quality photos, more versatile zoom and the ability to record 8K 30 fps video. This model is also cheaper than the iPhone.

The most important thing to consider when choosing between these two devices is the operating system. If you need an Android smartphone, get the Samsung. Otherwise it is better to buy an iPhone.
