In a post on the Windows Insider blog, Microsoft announced that a new version of Copilot is now available for download. If you’re a member of the program, you can install it and access it using the new keyboard shortcut. One of the most important features is that Copilot ceased to be a web application and became a native Windows application..

You’ll notice the most obvious changes as soon as you launch it on your desktop. The new version of Copilot is no longer a Progressive Web App (PWA). will appear in the system tray of Windows 11. This version supports the operating system design language, so it can be integrated like any other Microsoft application.

With the transition to Copilot’s own app also adds a new quick view that is activated using a keyboard shortcut Alt + Space. This preview is displayed as a box in the center of the screen where we can write a message (hint) in the text box or activate the voice function. Quick View allows you to make an immediate request without having to open Copilot and display the answer in a field.

From the preview, users will be able to open the main Copilot window using the button located in the top left corner. If you’re only making a quick request, you can close the preview using a keyboard shortcut. Alt + Space.

While previewing Copilot seems like a great idea, Using this key combination may conflict with other applications.. If you use launchers like PowerToys Run, you’ll need to change the keyboard shortcut in the app’s settings, as Copilot doesn’t offer that option. How to Install the Native Copilot App on Windows 11

If you want to try out the new native Copilot app, the first thing you need to do is sign up for the Insider program on the Microsoft website by signing in with your account. After that open Configuration Windows, come in Update and Security and select Windows Insider Program. In this section, you must select a channel according to your needs and experience level (Canary, Dev, Beta or Release Preview).

The native app is now available in the Microsoft Store across all Insider channels. Just find the app Co-pilot (version 1.24112.123.0). If it’s not available yet, you may have to wait a few days as this is a gradual rollout.
