Android 15 does not allow notifications containing sensitive information to be displayed in Link to Phone in Windows 11. The restriction has been applied to various devices, but it still works on phones where the app is downloaded locally.
Android 15’s behavior affects “untrusted” notification recipients, a category into which Windows Link (the app required to pair a mobile phone with a computer) is classified. Because, Notifications containing sensitive information do not appear on the PC screen.
Not all notifications contain sensitive information, despite. The type covers, for example, two-factor authentication codes.
If a notification is blocked from appearing on the computer, Link to Phone notifies the user of the restriction. “With the latest Android update, Link to Phone no longer shows notifications containing sensitive information for your security,” the app explains.
However, as reporter Mishaal Rahman found out, this is not the case for all mobile phones: Devices sold with Windows Link installed by default can still sync sensitive notificationsEven on Android 15.
In this category, Mobile phones from Samsung’s Galaxy family are entering. Devices from other brands often do not offer native connection to Windows.
It is possible that Microsoft and Google will try to develop a solution to prevent the restriction from being applied to Connect to Mobile, or at least make the behavior more consistent across devices of different brands. However, there is no information about this for now.
