One of the latest versions of the latest current version of iOS 16 – support for Cyrillic and frequencies, Russian for functions Write.

Feature Scribble, or in the Russian version “By hand”, written for iOS 14. This is handwriting recognition and conversion to printed text. This only worked with English.

With the release of the final version of iPadOS 16, it will be possible to write on the iPad using the Apple Pencil in Russian – in any application.

Handwriting greatly affects the lives of those who use the iPad as a notepad, take notes or take notes. Freehand text can be entered in any field, whether it’s a website or even a game. The script “hangs” in the fog for a little less than a second, after which it is converted into printed text.

The feature also has an interesting bonus. I tested it, so I tested it (briefly).

Works good. In 9 cases out of 10, the feature perfectly recognizes handwritten text. But sometimes it misses a lot. There is nothing new here, it is impossible to foresee all the variants of handwriting. Just be prepared that later the text will need to be slightly corrected from obvious typos.

Requires getting used to. If you have never written by hand on a tablet, at first it will be very unusual. Immediately stop pressing on the screen, it’s not a pen or pencil. It will get easier. And if you really use the iPad as an abstract machine, then I advise you to stick a film. Otherwise, over time, small scratches may appear from the Apple Pencil. Plus, among the films there are “paperlike” options, that is, giving the feeling of paper on paper.

Enable option like this: Settings -> Apple Pencil -> Freehand.

Supports two languages at once. There is no need to switch from Russian to English and vice versa. There is just a pause so that the word on the review “fits in”, and continues on a new one. It is very convenient if you write text with Russian-language names.

Ideal for iPad mini. I tested the feature on a 12.9-inch iPad Pro. It was a recovery. But on the iPad mini, the experience is completely different. I would even say that, together with the “minicom”, this is considered a killer feature of devices for everyone who has not yet lost the habit of handwriting.

Learn special gestures. Moreover, Apple has Russified how to work with the number “By hand”. It is available here: Settings -> Apple Pencil -> Russian and English (United States) -> Try writing by hand.

To delete a word, it is enough to shade it. For a quick selection, you can draw a horizontal line in the middle of its text or simply circle it. If you keep Pencil on one device, you can use the menu of suggestions-inserts. To select or merge text, just draw a vertical line between them.

Now Apple continues to add support for SWYPE input for the Russian keyboard, and another Cyrillic gestalt will close.

PS You can install the iPadOS 16 public beta at your own risk by following these instructions.
