Apple rejected the proposal, saying the EU’s Digital Markets Act (DMA) threatened user privacy. The company singled out *Meta, saying it made more requests than any other company for access to Apple’s sensitive technology. *Meta, which makes Quest headsets and smart glasses, accused Apple of anti-competitive practices and resistance to interoperability.

DMA requires Apple to share key technologies, such as Siri voice commands and payment systems, with other developers. Apple argues that this forces it to share innovation while rivals like *Meta gain unfair advantages through privacy disputes.

The European Commission may launch a formal investigation early next year.

*Owned by Meta, who is recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation.
