Distributors and marketplaces state that sales of PC components in Russia will increase significantly in 2024. At Ozon, demand for such goods increased by 72% in quantity and 83% in currency terms, while at Wildberries the growth was 41% and 56% respectively. The main factors are pent-up demand and low prices of DDR5 RAM, processors and motherboards, which have fallen in prices by 8-12%. However, the price of video cards and cooling systems fell the most, by 29% and 20%.

Of particular interest to buyers were video cards, sales of which increased by 82% on Yandex Market. Experts attribute this to the popularity of video games in Russia, where PCs are still ahead of consoles. Vasily Ovchinnikov, President of the Organization for the Development of the Video Game Industry, stated that Russian developers focused on PC platforms, while consoles remained on the sidelines due to the lack of marketing support after the departure of companies such as Sony and Microsoft. . He added that changes in the ruble exchange rate have a stronger impact on the prices of console games than on PC components.

Apart from gaming, the growing interest in video cards is also associated with their use in cryptocurrency mining. Market experts noted that mining is also encouraged by rising prices of other components such as motherboards and computing modules. IT expert Sergei Vilyanov emphasized that the new AMD and Intel processors released in the second half of 2024 also affect demand. Despite the release of new products, prices for older generations have practically not fallen due to fluctuations in the ruble exchange rate, which encourages users not to postpone the upgrade.
