Google proposed its version of an agreement with the US Department of Justice after the court found the company guilty of monopolizing Internet search.
The company is proposing a three-year ban on contracts that set Google as the default search term on devices from other manufacturers. First of all, this concerns the agreement with Apple, for which Google pays $18–20 billion annually. However, the Ministry of Justice insists on extending this ban to 10 years.
Additionally, Google wants to keep its Chrome browser and succeed in selling it, as proposed by the Justice Department.
Proceedings regarding the ban against Google will begin in the United States on April 22, 2025.
Google to court: we will change the agreement with Apple, but please leave Chrome
It says the government is asking for too much.
