The final sample of the new study included 567 babies tested at 37 research laboratories on five continents. And the children showed no signs of an early sense of morality. This means that the hypothesis put forward in a study by Kylie Hamlin and colleagues nearly 20 years ago has not been confirmed.

In a previous study, researchers showed puppet shows to six- and 10-month-old babies. During this demonstration, children saw a character trying to climb to the top of a hill. Then a new character appeared who either helped him climb to the top or threw him back to the bottom of the hill. As a result, 88% of 10-month-olds and 100% of six-month-olds turned to the helper. But the problem was precisely that only a few dozen children were included in this experiment.
