Samsung’s fourth-quarter operating profit is expected to be 9.22 trillion won ($6.3 billion); This is below the previous estimate of 9.7 trillion won. The company has been struggling with overstock and price cuts, particularly on DDR4 chips, which have fallen 35.7% since July. Analysts also point out delays in the company’s HBM3e chip deliveries to Nvidia.
SK hynix, a leading supplier of high bandwidth memory (HBM) chips, was also affected. Estimated fourth-quarter profit fell slightly to 8.05 trillion won.
However, the HBM segment outperforms traditional DRAM.
