The Tagansky Court in Moscow imposed a fine on the Telegram messenger for refusing to remove channels with propaganda of an organization banned in the Russian Federation – the Islamic State. The amount of the fine is 4 million rubles. The case file also contains accusations of publishing information about the sale of false documents, “illegal mass events”, publications discrediting the RF Armed Forces and “notes containing unreliable and socially significant information aimed at destabilizing the socio-political situation in Russia.”

According to the protocol of part 2 of art. 13.41 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation, the courier is obliged to pay 4 million rubles. This fine amount is not new for Telegram: the court repeatedly imposed similar amounts on the platform for refusing to remove content in 2024, in December, October, August, etc. And in 2023, the courier also received a fine as part of the requirements for locating companies in the Russian Federation.
